The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization encouraging informed and active participation in government. It influences public policy through education and advocacy.

We encourage citizen involvement with government.

A conversation about our future energy options

October 22 • 7 pm  Winnetka Congregational Church

September 26: Election authority begins mailing vote by mail ballots. Early voting begins at select polling locations.
October 8: Last day for regular (paper) voter registration.
October 9 - November 5: In-person voter registration and same-day voting at election authority and polling sites.
October 20: Last day to register to vote online. (In-person voter registration remains open through election day.)
TBA: Early voting begins at all polling locations.

In February 1919, more than two dozen women boarded a train to share their story of arrest, imprisonment, and brutal treatment for protesting in front of the White House in support of a federal women’s suffrage amendment. 

Although these white women omitted women of color from their claims to the rights of citizenship, their nickname for the train—the “Democracy Limited”—is a reminder that the project of democracy is diminished without full and equal participation of all members of society.
