The League of Women Voters announces that it will sponsor a virtual Candidates Forum for candidates in the New York State Legislature Senate District 37 election.

The virtual Forum will be held Monday October 19, 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The League will use the cloud-based video conferencing application Zoom, and participants will join from their chosen remote locations. To register to view the Forum click here. Viewers may sign-in beginning at 6:45 p.m.

The Forum will also be live-streamed via the League of Women Voters of Westchester Facebook page and be available for subsequent viewing through Election Day Tuesday November 3. To submit a question for the candidates to be asked during the Forum, click here. Deadline to submit a question is Sunday October 18, 12 noon. Questions will not be taken during the Forum.

The New York 37th Senate District includes villages, towns, cities, and unincorporated hamlets in southern and central Westchester county.

The New York 37th Senate District is currently represented by Shelly Mayer (D; WF; SAM). Her challenger is Liviu Saimovici (R; C).

League of Women Voters of White Plains president, Stephen Cohen, said, “this Candidates Forum is an important opportunity for residents of the 37th Senate District to hear where the candidates stand on important issues in a calm, respectful, nonpartisan environment that encourages civil discourse. The Forums have even greater importance today when candidates' options for making themselves known to their constituents is greatly curtailed. We are pleased that both candidates in the race will be participating.”

This Candidates Forum is being presented by the local Leagues of Larchmont/Mamaroneck, New Rochelle, Northeast Westchester, White Plains, and the Woman’s Club of White Plains, in conjunction with the League of Women Voters of Westchester.
