Join the League of Women Voters of Moscow for a panel discussion, The Idaho Resilience Project – Shaping Healthy and Resilient Communities.

Speakers include: Jean Fitzgerald-Mutchie, the west Treasure Valley community health manager for St. Luke’s Health System; Roger Sherman, executive director of the Idaho Children’s Trust Fund; and Shannon McGuire, chief empowerment officer of Spark!

They will discuss recent advances in interventions to address adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) in Idaho. ACEs can include such things as verbal, physical or sexual abuse, witnessing domestic violence, drug or alcohol abuse in the home, or having a parent in jail or prison. The more ACEs, the more likely the physical and behavioral negative outcomes a person will have throughout life. Idaho has one of the highest rates of children with three or more instances of childhood trauma.

The panelists will also speak about how numerous partners have joined to form the Idaho Resilience Project, which works to promote healthy and resilient communities in Idaho. They will discuss the project’s overall goals and present around Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) that mitigate the impacts of ACEs and provide a path to prevention.

The presentation will introduce a new League of Women Voters statewide committee, Building Resilience with ACEs Interventions (BRACEs).
