New Trier Township Updates: Assessor - Food Pantry

Fire at the Township! As many of you know by now, there was a fire in the NT Township building on March 28, and the building is even more "closed" than it was 2 weeks ago because now it's closed to us too. There's no electricity -- no hvac, no lights, no telephones, no computers. As of April 7, we have a temporary phone set-up: Call 773.382.7780 and listen to the menu. The Assessor's Office is #2, and you will be connected to Deputy Assessor Leonard Shifflett. If you're dying to talk to me and only me, tell Len. He'll call me, and I'll call you. But... (BIG "but" for the assessing world) we can't access our assessing software. I don't have the tech savvy to explain why. Computer support is talking to software support... We are in our PTAB appeal period -- the deadline is in 2 weeks. We've lost 1/2 our time because of the fire, but there's good news too. I called the PTAB Board in Springfield and was told that extensions will (probably) be granted on an individual basis for any NTT resident -- but YOU, the resident appealing, have to be the one to ask for it. We can't ask for you. You can get the contact info on the PTAB website (www.ptab.illinois.gov). IMPORTANT: Requests must go to the main PTAB Board offices in Springfield, not the satellite office in Des Plaines. We can help you search for comps using the other systems available until we have access to our own. It takes longer, but it works. So, slower all the way around, but be assured Len and I will make sure you get help if you want it. As far as the annual Appeal Calendar for 2021 goes, the County Assessor has not yet posted it so stay tuned (is this unusual? VERY)
