Oklahomans Speak: ACEs, Generational Trauma, and Next Steps in Criminal Justice Reform

Date: Saturday, August 21st, 6-8pm

Location: SheBrews Coffee House, 1 N. Lewis Tulsa, OK

Oklahoma has a history filled with intergenerational trauma flowing from the trail of tears, through the burning of Black Wall Street. When our system responds to trauma with punishment, is it any wonder we have some of the highest incarceration rates in the country? One of the frequently forgotten aspects of the criminal justice conversation is the impact of the system on children - both inside and outside the system.

Join Oklahomans for Criminal Justice Reform and the League of Women Voters for a community conversation on criminal justice policy, ACEs, intergenerational trauma, and where we go from here.

Moderator: Representative for House District 72, Monroe Nichols

Panelists: Carly Dunn (ACEs Researcher from OSU), Ellen Stackable (Executive Director of Poetic Justice), Exiquio Gonzales (Formerly Incarcerated Community Leader & Founder of Celda 151), Sonya Pyles (Formerly Incarcerated Community Leader & Client Advocate at Tulsa Lawyers for Children).
