Join us on Veterans Day, Thursday, November 11, for a talk on veterans, the challenges they face returning home and the services available to help them. The meeting will be online via Zoom. 

SPEAKERS

Kristine Stanley, MSgt, USAF (Ret.), PCCI, MBV, CPSS
Assistant Director of Veterans Services for
Family & Community Services
 
Kristine Stanley is a retired 24-year veteran of U.S. Air Force. Stanley previously served on the board of directors of Lifeline for Vets and was the first director of the organization’s Women Veterans Outreach. In that position, Stanley focused on women veterans, an underserved segment of the veteran population. Stanley also has worked with other veteran service organizations over the years. Stanley holds a master’s degree in business for veterans from the University of Southern California, a master’s degree in professional counseling from Grand Canyon University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Argosy University.
 
Dr. Tara Clark, psychologist
 
Dr. Tara Clark is a psychologist at the Ravenna Veterans Affairs Clinic where, for the past six years, she has treated individuals with general mental health concerns, including substance use disorders. Clark earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in Springfield, Missouri. While she does not live in Portage County, she is passionate about the veterans here and has a thorough understanding of the services available to the veterans in Portage County through the VA.
 
Tabbi Dunlap, nationally accredited veteran service officer
 
Tabbi Dunlap is a U.S. Navy veteran. She served for four years before being injured. She then earned an associate degree in medical assisting and worked in healthcare for a few years. “Then I found my place here at the county helping serve those who served. I absolutely love this job,” said Dunlap. She is a busy mom to four boys—ages 15, 10, 8 and 5! She is also the post quartermaster for the VFW 1055 post in Ravenna.
 
Joshua Rider, M.Ed., executive director
 
Joshua Rider is executive director of the Center for Adult and Veteran Services at Kent State University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history and master’s degree in higher education administration. Rider has 15 years of direct involvement with the military-connected population, the processing of VA educational benefits, and the implementation of university, state and federal policy for this population. He has been instrumental in the development of the Veteran Career Initiative at Kent State.
