Joining the League is a great way to play an active role in your community and in our democracy! Everyone is welcome -
membership in the League of Women Voters is open to anyone 16 years or older.
When you join the League of Women Voters of Kent OH, you are also joining the national, state and local Leagues. Thirty-three percent of your dues payment will go to LWVUS, forty-seven percent will go to LWV California, and twenty percent will go to LWV Kent OH.

This video will walk you through how to join or renew your membership at LWV. It also shows how to access and use the member portal to update your profile information and view your past payments.
Membership Dues:
- Individual members: $75 per year is the recommended amount, or pay what you can ($20 minimum).
- You can add a second member ($150 total for both recommended, $40 for both minimum), but they each will need to provide a unique email address.
- Life members: In appreciation of their dedication to democracy, Life Members (members for more than 50 years) are exempt from membership dues.

Making Dues Payments
- The preferred payment option is a direct bank transfer (ACH transfer), which minimizes fees. You’ll need your financial institution's routing number and your account number.
- You also have the option to pay by credit or debit card.
- If you are not comfortable making payments online, you can pay by check. PLEASE NOTE: Your dues check MUST be made out to LWVUS. Please mail it to LWV Kent, PO Box 302, Kent OH 44240.
- You will receive an online confirmation and an email receipt for your online payment.
- PLEASE NOTE: ONLY the LWV Kent OH portion of your membership dues will be tax-deductible. The receipt will show 20% of your dues going to LWV Kent and can serve as your tax-receipt.
- Your membership dues payment will show up as three transactions on your account — one each to LWV Kent, LWV Ohio, and LWVUS. You’ll be a member of all three!
- Keep things simple by automatically renewing each year! Just select auto-renewal when you are paying your dues.
Making Donations
- You will have the option to make a direct donation to LWV Kent OH when paying your dues, or you can donate directly to us on the Donate page on our website. If you include a donation in your dues payment, LWV Kent will only receive 20% of it.
- All donations to LWV Kent OH are fully tax-deductible, whether made on the LWV Member Portal or directly from our site.
Renewing Your Membership
- LWV Kent OH members as of Jan. 31, 2025 have a membership renewal date of July 1 each year. Anyone joining after Jan. 31, 2025 will renew on the anniversary date of becoming a League member.
- You will receive an email reminder to renew one year after your last renewal, with a link to renew on the LWV Member Portal.
- If you have signed up for auto-renew, you will get a reminder that your membership is automatically renewing.
Accessing the LWV Member Portal
To update your contact information or view your past payments, go to the LWV Member Portal. or use this QR code.

- Enter the email address associated with your membership.
- You will be sent an email with a verification code to enter the code into the form. (You do not need a password.)
