Our League’s most important meeting of the year, Program Planning, is scheduled for Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 10 a.m. Many new and sometimes even long-time members will ask, “What exactly is Program Planning and how is it different from a program event?” A program event is what we call our regularly scheduled public events that may occur monthly. These sometimes monthly events are usually related to a current area of League focus, i.e. voting rights, natural resources, housing… etc.
In the League, Program Planning is the annual process by which we (members) jointly decide where and how we will focus our resources — member time, resources, reputation— over the next year.
At this meeting, we align our League’s work with the mission and priorities set forth by National and State LWV. In addition, we identify and set goals on how best to support our Annual Program Planning 2021-22 local communities. All League members are encouraged to attend, voice their opinions, and vote on our future programs and actions. This process is what makes the League a grassroots organization—everyone’s voice counts!
Please register for the event ASAP to help our planning and to get reminders for this important event.

Message from President about 2022 Program Planning meeting:
Dear League Members and Friends,
Please plan to attend our League’s very important, virtual, Annual Program Planning Meeting on Saturday, Jan. 29th from 10:00 am to noon. The purpose of Program Planning is to review and align our goals with LWVUS in preparation for the National Convention in June; review and assess the goals we set at our Program Planning last year; and, identify specific areas of focus for our League for the next year.
PREPARATION:
In order to fully participate and make the best use of our time, please read the attached documents prior to our meeting and pay particular attention to the detailed report LWV has compiled on how it has addressed each segment of the Campaign for Making Democracy Work. LWV is asking each League to vote on supporting their continued focus, and thus our focus also, on the Campaign for Making Democracy.

Additional information on 2022 and Beyond can be found in the same Leaders Guide to LWV Program Planning 2022-2024: page 5

In the same Leaders Guide, please note the questions we are asked to complete on the Report Form regarding which policies we use to support our work and any suggestions for other areas for LWV to focus on and support.
PROPOSED CONCURRENCES :
-
In addition to the above, we will discuss and vote on three proposals that have come in from other state Leagues asking for our support in listing two concurrences on our Program Planning Report Form. The proposed concurrences represent a grassroots effort to have these two areas agendized for discussion and possibly voted upon at the convention. Proposal details can be found below:

LWV New Mexico: Concurrence on Digital Equity: https://www.lwvnm.org/broadband/

LOCAL GOALS:
Lastly, we will review the goals we set in January 2021, highlight accomplishments, and identify focus areas for 2022. All members are encouraged to think about where and how we can best focus our resources – member time, potential impact, member interests – over the next year. We need your input! Here is the proposal of our discussion during this year's Program Planning.
"How to increase the membership, our league’s visibility and impact in our local communities?"
If you have another focus area you’d like to present and discuss or an idea to consider, please contact us ASAP so we may include it on the agenda of our meeting. Thank you and look forward to your participating to this important event.
