Meeting Summary:

Meeting called to order.

Public Contributions: Gail Pavilga State Representative District 75

• Meeting EPA in Washington DC regarding a resolution to end E-Check in this community. Research shows that it is not our cars adding to the toxic environment, it is mostly businesses. With Portage County sitting where it is we have emissions from Pennsylvania and Canada. Not something we should be penalized with.
• Appointed by Governor to work on the opioid settlement award to address the crisis in our county and throughout the state to get programming and education to fight our problems with addiction.
• Instrumental in 988 mobile unit deployed in addition to 911 to assist with mental health issues to make sure no call goes unanswered this is very costly so still working with that.
• Working on legislation with Court-appointed special advocates for our foster programs.
• Working on budget amendments with Kent State Economic Development programs.
• Commended Brimfield Leadership in their Economic Development as they have become a trendsetter in expanding your community. Wishes them continued success and offered any needed assistance.

• Too many things wrong in county taxes. Recycling fees in Tallmadge that don’t lie in Brimfield. This should be part of the auditor's office to review. Discussion followed.
• Franklin Township also has collection fees and they don’t provide collection.

Announcement: May 7 Community Cleanup Day will include electronics.

Meeting Minutes from 12/29/21 approved

Police Department:

• Order placed for cruiser.
• Replacement levy options for 2022. (2006 levy)
• Discussion regarding 3 options:
• $75.15 what residents are paying today
• Option 2 would add $30.85 which will fund an additional officer and help rotate the cars.
• Discussion with help from Jedd fund.
• Feb 3 deadline for Board of Elections
• Motion to replace the current 2006 2.7mil levy - Approved. (Option 2)
• Motion to accept Jag grant $3515.00 for radios needs - Approved.

Fire Department:

• Construction slow due to weather.
• Year-end Report sent to Trustees.
• Budget requests being accepted.

Sue Fields - Meeting with Visitors Bureau - (bed tax). They have 27,000 flyers that will be put in roadside stops and visitor bureaus.

Zoning and Economic Development

• Hickory Hills subdivision continues custom-built homes.
• Brimfield road signs are being finished up. Putting in solar lights for nighttime view.
• Year-end report for Economic Development is ready.
• Dora Lee demolition is moving forward.

Road department.

• Salt is in. In good shape for the rest of the season.
• Working with the fire department during winter season.
• Snow parking signs are in.
• Present to zoning commission a street parking code.

Park Department

• Applications for a community grant from NOPEC ($1500) being accepted.
• Planning for Brimfest September 16-17, 2022 continues to move forward. Bands booked and food vendors booked.
• Goal setting: Focus on Cranberry Creek Park have more programs, electric installed, fire pit and permanent trails set up. Survey property to find the exact borders of the property.
• Cemetery: Columbarium was delivered. 72 nitches for those who are cremated. $800.00 for residents.
• Discussion regarding geese control.
