The meeting began with the roll call of board members, introduction of staff, visitors, and superintendent by Tom Larkin, assistant superintendent. The Pledge of Allegiance was said and the minutes from the previous meeting were approved.

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT
Michele Wilmoth, Director of School Health Services, and Stephanie Young, District Nurse for Kent City Schools were presented with awards in appreciation for all their hard work in servicing the students and staff of Kent City Schools during the last two years. They went above and beyond with vaccinations and contact tracing for the district.
Board members will meet on May 5 to tour construction projects at RHS.

GENERAL BUSINESS
FINANCIAL REPORT
3/4 of the fiscal year is complete. The first half of the tax collection is complete and received in March. This was more than the anticipated amount and it appears that the revenues are increasing and are up from last year. The interest rates on investment CDs are also increasing to a rate of .35%. The financial report and bills were voted on and approved.

PERSONNEL
New appointments and transfers were approved upon pending background checks. Leaves of absences, resignations, and retirements were accepted. Nonrenewals of teachers and supplemental contracts were approved.

STATE AND FEDERAL PROGRAMS
Approved participation in state and federal programs such as Title 1, 2, 3, and IDEA for special education.

AUDIOLOGY
Summit County Educational Service Center will continue to provide services with an increase from 11 to 13 days next school year. The days can be increased as the need arises.

BEHAVIORAL SERVICES
A contract with ABA Outreach Services was approved for applied behavioral services.

TECHNOLOGY
The following contracts were approved: GAAP for conversion services. Bay Pointe Technology for the Walls network. Forward Edge for Davey access points. NEOnet for Managed Internal Broadband.

CHANGE ORDER FOR SHOOK CONSTRUCTION COMPANY
A credit of $9,212 was received by the district. The topsoil that was removed from the construction site at RHS was used to fill in low-lying areas at Stanton Middle School, which will eventually become an athletic field. Typically this soil needs to be trucked off the premises at additional costs. So the actual savings was $24,000.

SEASONAL WORKERS
The hourly wages for the seasonal workers who do the mowing, cleaning, and general maintenance went from $9.75 to $10.25. The district is anticipating some difficulties in filling all the positions.

TRANSPORTATION
A request for a student transport out of the district was denied, but the family will be reimbursed at the end of the year.

FIELD TRIPS
Two field trips were approved for the upcoming school year. During spring break John Robke will accompany students to London England. In early June students will be traveling to France for one week.

MISCELLANEOUS
Donations of $13,725 were received.
