Join the LWV Moscow for a Speaker Series event, Child Abuse Prevention - Looking Upstream, featuring Roger Sherman and members of the League of Women Voters of Idaho BRACEs Committee (Building Resilience Using ACEs Interventions). The event will be held via Zoom, bit.ly/LWVMspeakers. Zoom login meeting ID: 835 0394 1866; passcode: 432184.

Roger Sherman is the Executive Director of the Idaho Children's Trust Fund, the state affiliate of Prevent Child Abuse America. Mr. Sherman will address the efforts being made in Idaho to prevent child abuse by focusing on strengthening families.

Members of the state League (LWVID) will also provide an update on their work with him and other organizations to increase awareness of ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences), which include child abuse and neglect. They will also describe how to register for a series of free workshops provided for credit for anyone who would like to learn more about ACEs.

Under Roger's leadership, the Idaho Children's Trust has greatly expanded its efforts to prevent child sexual abuse, introduced new ways of preventing Shaken Baby Syndrome, and engaged educators, physicians and others around trauma informed care, ACEs, resilience and strengthening families. He has worked with schools and other organizations statewide in his current role and previously as a community organizer from 1979-2007. Roger was named the Child Advocate of the Year 2017 as the recipient of the Jerry Hirschfeld Special Achievement Award from the Idaho chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He serves on the boards of the Idaho Resilience Project, the Children’s Trust Fund Alliance and the Boise Farmers Market. Roger is married and has three daughters.
