This annual housing forum hosted by the League of Women Voters of Santa Barbara (LWVSB) comes at a time when everyone has more questions than answers about how to tackle our ever growing housing crisis. Cooperative planning that should be happening now with the Housing Element process is being threatened by polarizing pressure from the state.

South Santa Barbara County leaders including the SB School District Superintendent Hilda Maldonado, County Supervisor Laura Capps, SB Tenants Union Co-Founder Stanley Tzankov, CAUSE advocates Maria Navarro and Wendy Santamaria , School Board member and former City Planning Commission Chair, Gabe Escobedo, County Planning Director Lisa Plowman, County planners Allen Bell and Jessi Steele and Julia Hamilton from the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara present ideas for how we can work together as a community to tackle our local housing crisis. Themes throughout the forum were how to prioritize housing affordable to our local residents and workers, close to jobs and for households with very low to moderate incomes.
