Format: In-person

Meeting Summary:

PUBLIC COMMENT

A Roc Marie resident spoke to the trustees to describe water runoff onto his property, which he believes is caused by a clogged drain across the street. Mr. Akerley stated that he has been to the area with Eric Long, Portage County Storm Sewer Engineer, to discuss possible solutions, including some ditch repair work.

A West Shore Drive resident asked for an update on water concerns on her property. Mr. Akerley is waiting to hear back from Eric Long about the issue.

A Hudson Road couple addressed the trustees about their intention to build a second residence on their property. Because there seems to be no way for the new residence to have the required 60 feet of footage, the couple was advised to ask for a variance to the zoning code from the BZA.

A Jenna Circle resident spoke in support of an Eagle Scout project to build a little library within the Germaine Reserve. The HOA supports this project, and Dave Akerley will work with her regarding placement. The trustees will send a letter in support of the project.

ROAD AND FIRE REPORTS

Mr. Akerley reported that the leaf pickup schedule is posted on the township website. Mr. Swan asked that the record reflect the great job that the road department has done with sign placement and that ABC Landscaping has done with pickup. A discussion covered the issue of downed trees on county roads and the township crew being called out when the county crews are not alerted.

Mr. Smith conducted a cul-de-sac inspection in the Germaine Reserve to help residents understand why street parking is not permitted. It interferes with turning clearance for emergency vehicles and school buses. He also reported that LaTerraza has closed.

NEW BUSINESS

A resolution to request a title search and administrative warrant for 6192 Cox was approved by all three trustees.

The township office and garage will be closed on October 14 for the national holiday.

CORRESPONDENCE

A letter from a Brady Lake area resident addressed his concern about the safety of pedestrian traffic along Leonard Street due to a lack of sidewalks and speeding cars. He asked the trustees to consider solutions to the problem.

A Rootstown Road resident contacted Mr. Russell with concerns about the stone from his driveway washing away and into the road. Because the road itself is half in Franklin Township and half in Ravenna Township, Mr. Russell has contacted Mike Collins in the engineer’s office for clarification.

FINANCES

A resolution authorizing a supplementary appropriation to the General Fund for $11,000 to meet payroll was approved by all three trustees; in addition, the cost of printing and mailing the township newsletter was approved by all three trustees.

A vote of all three trustees approved payment of bills totaling $150,520.32.
