Meeting Summary:

The board approved Vouchers 7751 through 7768. Recounts are required for Issues 39 and 40, Springfield local schools, as the vote was less than 1/2% difference. The board voted to go into recess to do the recount. Only 1/2 of one precinct in Suffield (216 votes) is involved as most of the Springfield local school district is located in Summit County (84,000 votes) where the balance of the recount will be held.

Randi Clites, the board's representative to the election officials state association, reported that HB552, which addresses proof of citizenship for voting, is being actively discussed during the Ohio legislature's lame-duck session. This proposed legislation has many logistical and cost issues.

Denise Smith reported that the County Commissioners have thus far denied the BOE's public information request for a copy of the Commissioner's wage survey results. The BOE will pursue the request.

This observer was unable to stay during the recess for the recount. Plans for the Post Election Audit were also on the agenda.
