Join the LWV Moscow for a Speaker Series event, Presidential Rhetoric in the 2024 Election, presented by Pavielle Haines on Wed., Dec. 4 at 12 p.m. at the 1912 Center in Moscow.

Donald Trump and Kamala Harris articulated very different ideas about what it means to be an American. How did this affect the outcome of the 2024 presidential election? Pavielle Haines, assistant professor in the Politics & Philosophy Department at the University of Idaho, specializes in American politics, political behavior, and public opinion. Her ongoing work examines how presidential candidates use patriotic rhetoric to shape public attitudes about who counts as an American – and who does not. She holds BA's in Political Science and Psychology from Montana State University and received her PhD from the Department of Politics at Princeton University in 2018.
