There is an important event our League Tuesday, March 4 in front of the Henry Ford Centennial Library, at 8:30 p.m.

Light4Democracy, a coalition of several non-partisan organizations, led by LWVUS, is hosting peaceful gatherings across the county on that day.

The goal of the community gatherings at state capitols, city halls, town halls, or other public gathering spaces across the country, are to bring people together in reflection, action, and solidarity during the President’s Address to Congress on Tuesday, March 4. These events will offer a peaceful and unified space to come together for the health of our democracy, the future of our nation, and the well-being of all its people.

We hope to spend about an hour reading the U. S. Constitution aloud – paragraph by paragraph.

We will pause at 9:00 p.m. for a moment of silence when the President's address begins.

Dress warmly and appropriately for the weather.  Please bring flashlights, phones, or any other battery-operated lighting devices.  If you cannot attend, you may wish to place a candle in a window (safely).

The LWV organizers stressed that we should keep our event simple and be a time for folks to be together for the common cause of Democracy.

Hope to see you there. Registration is not necessary but here is link if you wish to register.
