As part of its mission, the League of Women Voters seeks to ensure that all people are treated fairly and afforded basic human rights. In that context, many members have been concerned about the country’s treatment of immigrants. Following two years of research and study, the Washington State LWV (LWVWA) has developed a position on immigration that addresses the needs of immigrants residing in the US. It calls for respectful treatment of all residents, regardless of immigration status, ensuring access to essential services, opportunities for legal representation, and opportunities to live and work in safety.
