BOARD OF DIRECTORS 

Shall have charge of the property and business of the Organization, with full power and authority to manage and conduct the business, subject to the instruction of the general membership.  It shall plan and direct the work necessary to carry out the programs as adopted at the League of Women Voters’ National Convention, the State Convention, and the Berrien and Cass Counties Annual Meeting. 

PRESIDENT
Provides overall leadership, direction, and supervision of the League and its board. Presides over meetings, represents the League publicly, and ensures alignment with policies, mission, and strategic goals. Oversees operations, supports board members, and ensures compliance, communication, and organizational effectiveness.

VICE-PRESIDENT

At the request of the President or in the event of his or her absence or disability, the Vice-President shall have all the powers of, and be subject to all restrictions upon, the President. 

TREASURER
Manages all financial activities, including collecting funds, paying bills, and maintaining records. Prepares financial reports, handles taxes and compliance, and oversees budgeting and financial planning. Ensures transparency and accuracy in the League’s financial operations.
 

SECRETARY
Serves as the official record keeper for all League meetings and decisions. Prepares, reviews, and distributes accurate meeting minutes and documentation. Ensures proper recordkeeping and supports communication of board actions.

CHAIR OF ADVOCACY AND EDUCATION
Oversees research, study groups, and educational initiatives on key issues. Coordinates with other teams to turn research into advocacy and public information. Shares findings through reports, newsletters, and educational materials.

CHAIR OF COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Builds and maintains partnerships with community organizations and coalitions. Coordinates outreach efforts, joint initiatives, and community engagement activities. Keeps the board informed and fosters collaboration to advance League goals.

CHAIR OF LOCAL AND STATE GOVERNMENT OBSERVATION
Monitors government actions, legislation, and policy developments relevant to the League. Leads efforts to track, analyze, and report on local and state government activities. Organizes advocacy responses and keeps members informed about opportunities for civic action.

MEMBERSHIP CHAIR
Leads recruitment, retention, and engagement of members through events, outreach, and communications. Organizes recruitment activities like the fall event and new-member orientations, while maintaining membership records and renewals. Welcomes new members, tracks interests, and supports their involvement in League activities.

PUBLICITY CHAIR
Promotes League visibility by managing media relations, press releases, and event publicity. Coordinates communication about events through newspapers, posters, and newsletters. Collects content, creates promotional materials, and highlights League activities to the community.

VOTER SERVICE CHAIR
Leads efforts to educate the public about elections, candidates, and ballot issues. Organizes voter guides, forums, and informational events, especially during election cycles. Recruits and coordinates volunteers to support voter education initiatives.

WEBMASTER
Maintains and updates the League’s website, newsletter distribution, calendar, and digital content. Manages email accounts and social media, ensuring timely communication and engagement. Oversees online systems and keeps information accurate and accessible.
