The Nominating Committee has submitted the following slate of candidates to serve on the LWVWmCo, TN Board of Directors from June 2026 until June 2028. Social Media Chair Nominee Kathy Armistead Kathy is a Nashville-based writer and ordained in The United Methodist Church. Author of several books, she has had a circuitous career path—from therapist to loan officer to editor to publisher to consultant. Currently, she is the Managing Editor of Methodist Review, a peer-reviewed, open-access, academic journal. She serves on the Bible Translation and Utilization Advisory Committee (BTU), which operates under the direction of the Friendship Press Board of Directors of the National Council of Churches to provide guidance and counsel on matters related to the New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition of the Bible (NRSV-UE). She received her BA from Butler University in Zoology and Chemistry, her MA from Vanderbilt University in Religion and Personality, and her PhD from Vanderbilt in Religion and Personality. Kathy is a proud wife, mother of two, and grandmother of two. Kathy began volunteering with the LWV in 2022 and became a board member of the LWV of WmCo in 2024. She also manages the group’s Facebook page. Voter Education/Community Outreach Chair Nominee Laurette Carle Laurette holds a B.S. in Biology from Bates College, an M.A. in Microbiology and Immunology from Duke University, and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Middle Tennessee State University. She devoted more than 34 years to public education, serving in roles that included classroom science teacher, curriculum specialist, professional development director, and Federal Programs director. She retired in 2024 as Executive Director of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment for Williamson County Schools. Laurette joined the LWVWmCo in July 2024 and began serving regularly as a poll observer. She is also an active member of the Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Women Educators, currently serving as her local chapter’s president and state organization’s legislative committee chair.
