The House and Senate introduced the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which would require citizenship documentation to register to vote even though voters in every state are already required to affirm or verify their citizenship status when registering.

The SAVE Act would create one more barrier to the voting process, as many eligible voters do not have easy access to the necessary documents.

Tell your members of Congress to oppose the SAVE Act

Graphic of Vote 411

It is important to celebrate that VOTE411 did what it was designed to do this cycle - educating voters. We had information on more candidates in more languages that were viewed by more voters than any election cycle, and that's something to be extremely proud of! More specifically, between January 1- November 5th, just shy of 9.2 million voters turned to VOTE411 for their election information.

Stance on new voter law.

This is the LWV of TN statement on the new law that required Election Officials to place a sign at each polling place warning voters about voting in the August 1st. Primary. The LWV of TN is currently in litigation over this requirement.

ACLU-Tennessee has published a press release detailing a demand letter that has been sent to Tennessee Coordinator of Elections Mark Goins and Secretary of State Tre Hargett.

Earlier this month over 14,000 naturalized Tennessee citizens received letters from the TN Secretary of State's office notifying them that their status did not match the records from the DMV database.  Does this feel like voter intimidation?  We believe the answer is yes.
