Summary:

The meeting was called to order at 5:07. After approval of the April meeting minutes the Fiscal Officer provided the Financial Report. It was discussed and approved unanimously. Ms.Young reported that local businesses have donated generously to provide coupons, gift cards, etc for the Summer Reading Program. Thanks to these donors the library hasn’t had to purchase any prizes. She also said that this year educational experiences like visits to parks and museums will be eligible for prizes. She also reported that digital circulation has increased in the past month while physical circulation has slightly decreased. Library events have been well attended.

There was discussion about an ongoing lawsuit filed by Dr. Richard Miller claiming that the library expansion has harmed his neighboring dental practice. On legal advice the library will file a motion to dismiss charges.

The Board and employees present expressed gratitude to the community for supporting and passing the levy. Board members appreciated the library’s active social media presence including updates on a recent bee swarm on library property.
