As Washington voters prepare for the August 4 primary election, AARP Washington, the League of Women Voters and Northwest Public Broadcasting (NWPB) are helping voters make informed decisions with a new series of nonpartisan candidate interviews.

With the retirement of Rep. Dan Newhouse, voters in the 4th Congressional District will select a new representative for the first time in more than a decade. To help residents learn where candidates stand on key issues, the organizations produced a series of short video interviews covering topics such as family caregiving, Social Security, voter access, tribal relations and the cost of living. Each participating candidate was asked the same questions to ensure a fair, transparent, and nonpartisan process.

All candidates who filed for the primary election with the Washington Secretary of State were invited to participate. The videos feature those candidates who chose to share their views through the interview series.

The collaboration reflects a shared commitment among AARP Washington, the League of Women Voters, and Northwest Public Broadcasting to expand access to trusted, nonpartisan information and strengthen civic participation across the district. All three nonprofit organizations are nonpartisan and do not support or oppose any political party or candidate.

The candidate interviews are available now on Northwest Public Broadcasting's YouTube channel. Voters can review the interviews to learn more about the candidates and make a plan to vote. Ballots for the August 4 primary election must be postmarked by Election Day. To help ensure their votes are counted on time, voters should return ballots early—either by mail or at an official drop box.
