Your Vote Counts

The March 5th California Primary Election is in our rearview mirror. Of the 74,321 registered voters in Nevada County, 39,579 cast their votes (53.25%). For the League of Women Voters this voter turnout is disappointing as , we strive for 100% of voters to cast their ballots, however, we are well above the state voting statistic in which only 34% of voters cast their ballot. We have our work cut out for us in the upcoming November election to increase voter participation!

As documented in Impact on Issues 2022-2024 (pages 49-51), the LWV has a long history with election of the president by popular vote starting in 1970. In 2010, the League adopted a concurrence to support National Popular Vote until Electoral College is eliminated.
