Abortion Decisions - Personal Stories

One in four Americans who can get pregnant will have an abortion in their lifetime. In this era of misinformation, everyone needs to know the truth about abortion.

We believe in the power of story to stir emotions in people, to help them learn what they need to know as informed individuals.

Abortion opponents, and especially legislators who devise legal impediments to reproductive choice, often want to frame abortion simply, as being about a young single woman who should have used contraception and didn't.  At best this is a gross oversimplification; at worst it is a lie.  In either case it does not acknowledge those who are victims of rape or incest, the women aged somewhere between 25-55, those who are married and may already have children, those whose contraception failed, those who have a medical condition that will harm or kill them if they don't abort, etc., etc.

It isn't simple. There are so many reasons why someone would choose this medical procedure.  And that is why the decision belongs to the one who’s pregnant.
