Streetsboro Board of Education Regular Meeting

Date of Meeting: 11/13/2025

Format: In-person

Meeting Summary:

The Regular Meeting of the Streetsboro Board of Education was called to order on November 13, 2025.

PUBLIC COMMENTS: A senior student expressed appreciation for the support she has received from faculty and staff during her time at Streetsboro.

The minutes from the 10/13/2025 Regular Meeting were approved.

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT: Two faculty members reported on the transition of third graders to Henry Defer Intermediate School. The third graders are now integrated with fourth- and fifth-grade students and have transitioned successfully. Some third graders are serving as PAX leaders and are demonstrating maturity, adaptability, and leadership. Credit was given to the extensive planning that supported a smooth transition, including successful hallway management.

TREASURER’S REPORT: The levy did not pass, and a negative cash balance is projected for FY28. The district received a cautionary letter from the Ohio Department of Education. It was recommended that the district reduce its budget to $31.5 million for the upcoming year until new funding sources are identified. It was noted that many Ohio school districts are facing similar challenges, as expenses continue to rise without corresponding increases in state funding. Any budget reductions will prioritize student needs.

CHIEF BUSINESS OFFICER REPORT: Several rental agreements were presented for approval. Agreements include providing storage space for the Band Boosters and hosting a second performance by the Hudson Conservatory Ballet. Additional community programming is being explored for the Community Concert Series, including Puppy Pals from America’s Got Talent. Facility rentals are being used as a strategy to generate supplemental revenue. Ohio Guest Wrestling is using district facilities for a youth wrestling tournament, with charges limited to custodial services since a portion of proceeds supports the school’s wrestling program. A similar arrangement is planned for a basketball tournament. The food service report was made available.

BOARD REPORTS: Fall athletics have concluded, and Boys’ and Girls’ basketball seasons are beginning. Football players have a one-week break before joining basketball teams, and the boys’ coach is awaiting the full roster. Bowling season is starting with a MAC Pre-Season Tournament. The Education Foundation will meet in the coming months to review scholarship applications. The PTA is organizing several middle school activities, including an outdoor reindeer interaction event. Congratulations were extended to a student graduating in December.
