Joe Snyder, 482 Needham Ave., president of CWA union, talked about broadband internet for the city. $42.5 billion has been allocated by the new federal infrastructure law for broadband internet. These funds are available, now municipalities need to approve and get broadband networks approved through the federal program and network accessibility program (FCC program) -- bill to create jobs and benefit the community.
Community Development committee:
- 2022-114: An ordinance authorizing the transfer of TREX liquor license into the city of Kent by the Redding Empowered LLC-- unanimously approved
Land Use Committee:
- 2022-115: Ordinance authorizing thye filing of a petition with the board of Portage County County Commissioners to Franklin Township Boundaries to remove 174.828 acres to Kent. Unanimously approved (this is the Davey Tree Land)
Finance Committee:
- 2022-116: A resolution asking county auditor to advance property taxes collected prior to normal Feb. settlement date...--unanimously approved
- 2022-117: Ordinance approving and accepting the portage county budget commission's alternative method for apportioning and distributing the local government fund--unanimously approved
- 2022-118: Ordinance authorizing the city manageror designee to prepare an application for SRTS School Travel Plan Development to Ohio Dept. of Transportation.--approved unanimously
