  • 2021-046 RESOLUTION BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT, OHIO STRONGLY OPPOSING ANY EFFORT BY THE STATE OF OHIO TO ABOLISH THE LOCAL KENT CITY HEALTH DEPARTMENT, WHICH HAS PROVEN INVALUABLE IN PROTECTING THE HEALTH, SAFETY, AND WELFARE OF THE ENTIRE CITY AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES DURING A TIME OF GLOBAL PANDEMIC, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY***
    • This measure had the greatest discussion. This resolution was drafted in response to Ohio House Bill 110, which calls for the study of "small" health departments, leading to possible elimination and merging with county health departments.

Under new business, Kuhar brought up the issue of feral cats and what to do about them and the issue of open burns and the burning of the lawn outside the KSU rec. center. John Tosko of the fire department "zoomed" in to respond to the question. Ferrara discussed the police training program in Tallmadge, applauded it."
