PUBLIC COMMENT

A Brady Lake area resident addressed the trustees with a question about whether amur fish have been introduced into the lake to control algae. Mrs. Kapusta answered that, as had been mentioned previously, any wildlife introduced into the lake would need to be approved a Department of Natural Resources process first. The resident also had a question about whether and ambulance would need to be present during Captain Brady Day, and the response was that the township does not require them to do so.

A Walnut Road resident returned as a follow-up on the issue of disk golf courses at township parks. Mr. Russell communicated his support for the endeavor. A motion in support of moving forward with the project was approved by all three trustees, and the resident will therefore continue with fundraising efforts to support such courses.

ROAD, ZONING AND FIRE UPDATES

The road report was submitted and is on file as part of the official record.

Mr. Ciccozzi gave a brief summary of changes to the zoning resolution regarding noise disturbances and property setbacks. The wording about decibel levels was removed due to lack of an ability to measure them; however, this change makes it easier to address the intervention related to excess noise by letter.

Mr. Smith reported on a fire that occurred at Schneller; it was quickly brought under control without anyone sustaining injuries. Fixes to address the problem are already in place. He also reported on an air quality issue on Cherry Lane at a residence that has been deemed unfit for human habitation by both the building and fire departments, though a resident already lives there. He also stated that the state outdoor fire ban has been lifted until October 1, 2026.

NEW BUSINESS

The township has been approached by the Coalition Against Bigger Trucks asking for township support in their efforts to disallow heavier trucks on Ohio roads. The trustees tabled the issue so that they might research the issue more deeply.

A new quote was issued for additional electrical work at the Brady Lake Park pavilion. Because the quote was quite high, other quotes will be sought.

Mr. Swan introduced a topic from the last Portage County Township Association meeting related to rating roads to assist in paving decisions. Mr. Swan will follow up with the county engineer’s office to determine more about the cost and the nature of the process.

Mr. Swan received communication from a Seasons Road resident about a semi-truck which veered off the road and caused damage to both the road and their property. They said that the Ohio State Highway Patrol office has recommended a guardrail at this site, since it has happened before. It was suggested that the township file an insurance report because of the damage to the road.

Mrs. Kapusta received a call from a Carlton Drive resident about a vacant home near her that may need some intervention. Mr. Ciccozzi is aware of the situation and referred her to the Portage County Health District.

The 2027 tax budget was presented for review and discussion. It will be formally presented and voted on at a special session on June 9, 2026.

Payment of bills totaling $155,659.97 was approved by a vote of all three trustees.
