Christy Staats, assistant vice president of field and constituencies with responsibility for overseeing four national faith programs for the National Immmigration Forum, will be the featured speaker at our AMM fall kick-off meeting as we start a new program year. We welcome all to come and enjoy supper with our democracy defenders besties. Bring a dish to share. It's all free!
Staats is a 1999 graduate of Stow, Ohio, High School who then went to Miami University, graduating with BAs in Communications and Comparative Religion. She worked with Cru for 15 years, 11 of which were in the United Kingdom where she focused on college students. She helped create Crossings, a refugee ministry for her church in 2015 and Cru’s national refugee ministry simultaneously.
After provided training in cross-cultural ministry at roughly 12 churches in Northeast Ohio with the goal of inspiring the participants to get involved in welcoming refugees, Staats discovered the brokenness of the U.S. immigration system.
Staats then was recruited to work for the National Immigration Forum in 2018. She worked as a mobilizer for six years and now is assistant vice president of field and constituencies with responsibility for overseeing four national faith programs. She is nearly finished with her MA in Theology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
