Annual Edith Chase Symposium 2025

A Tribute to Tributaries

Most river miles are accounted for by tributaries small enough to cross in a few steps, and this is where Dave Costello, Ph.D., Professor of Biological Sciences, Kent State University, has worked for most of his career. In this presentation, “Big Lessons from Small Streams," discuss what is known about small streams, how tributaries contribute to biodiversity and ecosystems, watershed function and their vulnerability to human activities. Organized by the Kent Environmental Council.

In conjunction with the symposium on Friday, May 16, 4 p.m., poets from all over Ohio will present “A Confluence of Poems” at Kent State University, Center for Architecture and Environmental Design, Cene Hall.

Both events are free and open to the public.
