Portage County Auditor Matt Kelly will speak at the All Member Meeting and Fall Kickoff to a new program year on Sept. 16. His topic is "Portage County Property Taxes: Current Legislation and How It Affects Us."
Kelly began his service to the nation in 1990 when he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving during Operation Desert Storm. He later continued his military career with the Ohio Air National Guard, where he served as a firefighter from 1994 until his retirement in 2013. His distinguished service includes two deployments to Iraq and to Mississippi in support of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts in 2005.
A passionate advocate for veterans and community causes, Kelly is actively involved in numerous local initiatives. He works to support veterans, strengthen families and improve the quality of life throughout the county. Kelly served 14 years on Mogadore Village Council. In 2022, he was elected Portage County auditor, where he continues to prioritize transparency, efficiency and responsible stewardship of public resources.
