LWV Kent and LWV Northern Portage County Collaborate to Create New Land Use Position for Both Leagues

Land use position update consensus meeting

LWV Kent/LWV Northern Portage Land Use Position

The League of Women Voters of Kent and the League of Women Voters of Northern Portage County spent close to three years updating their land use positions with the goal of creating a combined position for Portage County. Both Leagues held consensus meetings on the new, combined land use position. A Joint Land Use Committee (including members from both Leagues) compiled the information they had gathered into a single survey that acquainted (or reacquainted) members with the issues originally presented in a Land Use Study in spring 2019, prepared members for a Consensus Meeting, and guided the formation of the consensus questions for the Consenus Meeting. Participants completed the survey on the LWV Kent website. The collaborative effort resulted in a combined Portage County Land Use Position that will enable the two Leagues to take unified action locally. The position update was completed and adopted by the LWV Kent Board in April 2021. Renee Ruchotzke chaired the LWV Kent Land Use Committee.
