Redistricting, It Happens (Every 10 Years!)
Annual Fall Forum- October 5, 2021
Guest Speaker - Bryant Rains, Cleveland County Election Board Secretary
Guess what! New stuff is coming! Cleveland County Election Secretary Bryant Rains and Jo Robinson, CC Voter Registration Coordinator, had some surprises to share October 5, 2021 at the League of Women Voters’ Fall Forum. Check out the live stream video below!
New voter ID cards will be mailed out when the Census data and precincts are determined. Be sure to contact the Election Board if you have moved. These new cards will have a bar code to be scanned when you go to vote. Hopefully this makes check in faster and lines shorter.
The voter registration book will be digital, an E-Book. The State is paying for tablets containing a precinct’s registered voters. We will still ‘sign’ in but, digitally.
The current 85 precincts will probably go to 100 in order to have no more than 2500 registered voters per precinct. Precincts won’t change until after the April, 2022 election because boundary lines need to be determined.
Absentee ballot request are still no excuse required for disabled folks. They do required two witnesses to sign, like your spouse and a neighbor. If you don’t use it, bring it to your precinct and sign affidavit that you aren’t voting twice. Absentee ballots for regular folks require a Notary to sign. The notary cannot charge a fee for this service, by state law.
Poll Workers are needed! Sign up soon in order to have the required training in December. Contact Joy Harris at 405-366-0210. (It’s fun and a good way to see your neighbors.)
