Social Media Policy

Social Media Policy

Approved 05/06/20

Social media are defined as websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking. The League of Women Voters of Norman, LWVN, may manage several social media sites as part of their ongoing commitment to educate and inform voters on current issues in our community, state or nation and to provide information about upcoming events in our community sponsored or supported by the LWVN.

The use of social media presents certain risks and carries with it certain responsibilities. Items posted on social media accounts, including links to other sites, hosted by the LWVN must be consistent with policy positions adopted by the LWVN, the League of Women Voters of Oklahoma, and/or the League of Women Voters of the United States. Postings should be consistent between social media sites. Communication between account managers is required to insure that similar postings are consistent between social media sites. All items posted on the LWVN sites must have the approval of at least two (2) individuals, the account manager and one of the following: the local steering committee chair(s) or the local league website manager and can be via email or texting or other communication means that leaves a record. Personal items or commentary will not be posted on the LWVN sites and inappropriate comments from visitors to our sites will be removed.
