Our guest speaker will be Rev. Dr. Kevin Riggs, Executive Director of the Williamson County Homeless Alliance. He will address the issue of homelessness in Williamson County, offering insight into the levels of need experienced by unhoused people and the Alliance's mission and philosophy in addressing them. 

An estimated 12,000 Williamson County residents live below the federal poverty line, according to the latest U.S. Census Bureau data. The Homeless Alliance estimates that up to 1,500 people are homeless within the county.

According to Rev. Riggs, "There's really not much of a middle class in Williamson County anymore. It's the haves and the have-nots. .  Among the have-nots, people [who] have been evicted from their apartments or, because of different circumstances, have become homeless... The largest demographic that we see, the growing demographic that we see with the homeless in Williamson County, are senior citizens. And that's not just true here. It's true across the country."
