League distributes 5,000 Voters Guides
League of Women Voters volunteers have been busy this week distributing 5,000 Voters Guides for the May 1 elections to more than 100 locations in Amarillo and Canyon. They provide nonpartisan information on 53 candidates in Potter and Randall counties and are available to the public free of charge.
Locations include public libraries, grocery stores, banks, credit unions, public offices, community centers and coffee shops. Or visit LWV’s online Voters Guide www.VOTE411.org to find the same information about our local races, said Kay Porter, the League’s Director of Voters Guides.
The Guides include candidates for the Amarillo City Council, Canyon City Commission, Amarillo College Board of Regents, Amarillo Independent School District (ISD) trustees, Canyon ISD, River Road ISD and the Panhandle Groundwater Conservation District and their answers to the League’s questions. It also lists the Bushland ISD’s Proposition A regarding the issuance of $94.3 million of bonds for school facilities and the purchase of land.
The Voters Guide also lists the dates, times and locations for early voting, which begins April 19, and location of Election Day vote centers. For more information, call the League phone, 806-337-2148.
