Representing District 8 (North Kona), Hawai`i County Council Member Holeka Goro Inaba serves as the Vice Chair of the County Council, Chair of the Parks and Recreation, Public Safety Committee and Vice Chair of the Regenerative Agriculture, Water, Energy, and Environmental Management Committee.

During this conversation in two parts, he reflected on his experiences representing District 8, and his priorities for North Kona and Hawai`i County as a whole. He also responded to audience questions on topics such as roads maintenance in Neighborhood Associations and access and condition to the county pool.

Biographical Statement from Councilman Inaba: “Dr. Holeka Goro Inaba boasts a remarkable and diverse educational background, coupled with extensive experience in communication, education, and leadership roles. Born and raised in Kona, Dr. Inaba serves as the Vice Chair of the Hawaiʻi County Council, representing District 8, encompassing North Kona.

In his multifaceted leadership roles, Dr. Inaba brings a unique perspective deeply rooted in his Hawaiian and Japanese cultural upbringing. His service extends beyond the County Council, as he holds director positions on the boards of Kāhuli Leo Leʻa and Aliʻi Health Clinic. Notably, he previously held the position of President of the Board of Directors for the West Hawaiʻi Mediation Center. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Educational and Communication Studies, a Master of Science in Health and Strategic Communication, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership."
