Take Action to Protect your Voting Rights

Time Range For Action Alert:
August 31, 2022 to September 3, 2022

If you took action earlier this year and urged legislators to vote YES on AB 2841 (Low) – Thank you! The legislation will prevent mistaken voter registration cancellation and protect the voting rights of people with disabilities under conservatorship. We need your help for one last push. This bill will soon reach the Governor’s desk – Urge Governor Newsom to sign AB 2841 into law!

Specifically, this bill will:

  • Require county elections officials to notify voters before they are removed from the voter rolls
  • Allow voters to stop mistaken voter registration cancellations
  • Protect the rights of eligible voters under conservatorship

Help Us Prevent Barriers to Voting

Inaccurate voter registration cancellations disproportionately impact eligible voters who are already underrepresented in our electorate, including those who are Black, Brown, Indigenous, or other people of color, low-income, and young people. Voters with disabilities are also subject to inaccurate voter registration cancellations and are underrepresented in our democracy - during the last national election, voters with disabilities were about 6 percent less likely to vote than the overall eligible voter population. Stand with the League of Women Voters of California and ACLU California Action in support of AB 2841.

Can we count on you to urge Governor Newson to sign AB 2841?

Sincerely,
