Find your Assembly representative’s website here and use the contact information provided to call or send her/him a message. Sample wording is below.
The California Voting Rights Act (CVRA) was designed to safeguard the right to vote where local communities have at-large elections. AB 350 (Alejo) would expand the CVRA to allow challenges to district-based election systems that are imposed or applied in a way that impairs the ability of a minority group to elect candidates.
- AB 350 will protect the voting rights of citizens in elections conducted by districts where district lines divide cohesive minority neighborhoods in a manner that minimizes their voting strength.
- AB 350 provides a range of remedies to guide courts and local governing bodies on how to design appropriate district-based remedies for CVRA violations.
- AB 350 must be passed by the Assembly by January 31 in order to move to the Senate for further action. Read more about AB 350.
