By attending our annual meeting, you can show your support, share ideas with like minded members of our communities and learn about how you can help .  In addition, we will elect officers, agree on the budget priorities for the coming year's work, and ratify changes in our bylaws that increase our ability to raise funds to support the full range of League activities.

Whether your gift is time, treasure, or talent, we hope you will join us on May 22 from 5:30-7 PM at First Baptist Church.to learn more about plans and projects going forward.

Jennie Blevins, Director, Communications

Lisa Cooperman, Director, Assistant Voter Services

Hello!  I am Lisa Cooperman and am happy to be considered for a position on the LWVBC board.

I moved to Chico just 2 years ago and now thoroughly embrace it as my home.

My first experience with Chico was in the 80’s when I attended Butte College and ultimately graduated from Chico State University with a major in computer science and a minor in business administration.   I worked for Charles Schwab for 10 years as a systems programmer and then became a full-time mother when I had my two children.  We lived in Pleasant Hill, and I was very involved in the various organizations and sport teams that my kids participated in.  After some major life changes, I was interested in leaving the now congested and very expensive East Bay.  Chance would have it that I attended a Chico State graduation in 2022 and by the end of that long weekend, I found a lovely place to live and embraced this new chapter in my life of being single and living on my own. I now have time to travel the country in my RV, hike, kayak, attend OLLI classes and create new and meaningful friendships.

I joined LWVBC last December and have been involved in voter registration as well as working at a voting center for a few days during the primary this year.  I very much enjoyed this experience, and I will continue to volunteer in the election arena.  I look forward to working on the board and assisting in the dissemination of voter information for the coming elections.

My experience with LWVBC and meeting its members has been so positive and I am grateful for the opportunities it has given me to be involved in the ever vibrant, changing, and lovely community of Chico.

Nicole Drummund, Director, Social Policy

Nicole Drummond is a native of Northern California. She was born in Humboldt County and has lived in Butte County for over 20 years. Nicole has been married for almost 20 years and is the proud mom of 2 boys, ages 7 and 16.

Recently assuming the role of National Director of Kinship Programming at the National Youth Advocate Program, Nicole spearheads the development of cutting-edge kinship care practices for deployment across multiple states. This esteemed nonprofit is dedicated to transforming the lives of children, youth, and families, along with the systems and structures that shape their experiences. Prior to stepping into her current role, Nicole was the inaugural professional Executive Director at Chico Housing Action Team (CHAT), a grassroots founded nonprofit committed to providing affordable rental housing coupled with essential support services for formerly unhoused individuals and families.

With over 25 years entrenched in Human Services and nonprofit realms, Nicole has developed and directed intervention programs for families who have a child with a developmental disability across 6 northern California counties. and worked in a variety of nonprofits settings.

Academically, Nicole holds a master's degree in leadership and human development from Pacific Oaks College, complemented by a bachelor's degree in child development administration from CSU, Chico.

Nicole has consistently played an integral role in her community by dedicating her time to volunteer for numerous organizations that advocate for social justice, civic engagement, and democracy. Active in the League of Women Voters of Butte County Social Policy Committee, she champions collaborative leadership and community involvement. Nicole has dedicated her life to serving vulnerable populations and the human service workers who support them.

Corky LeTellier, Director, Voter Registration (appointed by LWVBC board in November 2023)

Many years ago I was involved with the League of Women Voters in the Seattle area but since we then moved to several places, I have just recently become interested again. After living in Colstrip, Montana, Issaquah, Washington, Chester and Weaverville, California and being a part of many volunteer organizations I landed in Chico 4 years ago.   My mother said, “It’s time to stop hiding out in the mountains and come back to civilization”!   There are also 2 grandchildren living here. Buying a home 4 years ago, I have joined the Chico Peace Alliance, am working with the North Valley Harm Reduction Coalition and am a member of Newcomers and First Christian Church. All wonderful places to make a small difference and meet a diverse group of people. As the League of Women Voters Butte County voter registration director, I hope to organize League members to conduct registration drives as well as help educate the public with the goals of voter registration and voter education building strong connections in the Chico community.

Marcia Moore, 2nd VP, Membership – 2nd Term

Marcia is a retired cardiologist who believes strongly in the mission of LWV and will hope to pass on that belief to potential new members.  She is a strong supporter of upholding and strengthening the pillars upon which our country was built with an expanded understanding of what it means to be a democratic nation where ALL reflecting the diversity of humankind are equally and fairly represented.  She believes that a diverse nation is a healthy nation.  She is honored to be asked to serve and will do her best to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.

Alexandra Shand, Treasurer

I am a retired registered nurse, having managed a cardiology practice for 32 years. I became involved with the League in 2007 by volunteering to make desserts for the Wine Tasting. I served on the Wine-Tasting Committee for 11 years until the final one in 2018. I share hospitality duties with Linda Lunsford for most of the League events. I did the bookkeeping, budgeting and financial reporting for the practice and I believe those skills will allow me to function as Treasurer for BCLWV. I am grateful to Sandra Flake and Toni Reid for their mentoring and support.
