HONOR A MENTOR, FRIEND, OR PUBLIC FIGURE

HONOR A MENTOR, FRIEND, OR PUBLIC FIGURE

Monday, April 4, 2022 - 12:00am to Tuesday, May 10, 2022 - 11:45pm

HONOR A SPECIAL PERSON IN YOUR LIFE

AND HELP OUR LEAGUE

This is about our operating expenses. Not glamorous, but essential. Our League has not held a traditional fundraiser since before the pandemic began. Fortunately, participating in the North Valley Community Foundation Week of Giving the past two years has been a success for us. However, that event solicits funds specifically for the League’s tax-deductible Education Fund, which cannot be used to pay for essential operating expenses such as rent, maintenance, PO Box, postage, utilities, insurance, membership recruitment, etc.

This year, we are initiating a fundraising effort specifically for our non-tax-deductible operating expenses. Please continue reading for more details.

HONOR A MENTOR, FRIEND, OR PUBLIC FIGURE

(AND HELP KEEP THE LIGHTS ON IN THE LEAGUE OFFICE)

RAISE ALL OUR SPIRITS by sharing who has been, or still is, a mentor or special friend to you. Or you may wish to honor a public figure whom you feel deserves special praise. Feel free to submit more than one --- the more the better.

All submissions will be shared online and at our Annual Meeting. We expect everyone will be uplifted as they read about all the amazing people who are part of our community. We have attached two tributes as examples to get you started.

HOW IT WORKS

  1. Write a maximum of two (2) paragraphs about each honoree.
  2. Send it to us in one of two ways (or both):
    1. Email your tribute to lwvbutte [at] gmail.com, or
    2. Mail it to LWVBC, P.O. Box 965, Chico, CA 95927
  3. Send us $25.00 per submission in one of two ways:
    1. Click here to go to our League Action Priorities donations page, scroll down to donations, and make your payment, or
    2. Mail a check made out to LWVBC to the P.O. Box address listed above

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS:  MAY 10

We will compile all submissions* in a PDF format and make them available to our membership at the 2022 Annual Meeting on May 25. Hopefully, this will be a very LARGE file!

*  Please bear in mind LWVBC’s Nonpartisan Policy, which states that our League “does not support or oppose political candidates or parties.”  Therefore, the Board reserves the right not to publish any submission judged in violation of this policy.
