Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 5:33 p.m

501©3 and conflict of interest – The board discussed adoption of a Conflict of Interest Policy; Sandra showed a possible version. Board members will sign each year. Marcia moved that we approve the policy; Janet seconded. The motion was adopted unanimously. The COI policy will be effective as of Jan. 2, 2024, with signed copies to be returned by board members by the February board meeting.
We are now officially a 501c3 in California but not quite yet for the Federal Govt. Sandra now has information to complete the IRS form but needs any board member donations during the past five years.
Credit card: Sandra was offered a credit card by Tri County Bank with no charges, no annual fee and a 2% cash back for use of card. Sandra: “It’s wise to get this.”
Zoom Account: Sandra will renew our Zoom individual license account. (Satsie currently uses her own account for board meetings). The board discussed whether we need a webinar license.
Membership dues update: Marcia Moore has contacted 45 of 90 delinquent members; all plan to renew.
Committee and Board Member reports: • Social Policy: Janet reported the committee is focusing on voter reg. and homeless people.
• Intern: Sierra Josfan is interested in women’s studies and marketing. She may need 8 to 9 hours a week which should average out over semester. Duties: To assist Corky with voter registration, to keep the box ready, assist Claire with voter services and speed dating. This may involve calling people, writing a newsletter article, doing research and development for reaching CSUC and Butte College students. Sarah starts the new semester on Jan. 23. It was decided to give Sarah (as our intern) a free membership.
• Voter Registration Drive update Vote 411 update Satsie: It is coming along. Corky and Janet tabled at OLLI. Corky is checking with the Oroville jail and with CHAT about encouraging voting. Janet: is making a spreadsheet of activity; please let her know if we do anything league-related. (for the national survey)
• County Election Assistance update Satsie: We may have a voting assistance center at Luna Room (inside the SOL restaurant). We are waiting for formal offer then will recruit. We’ll do ballot pickup on election night.
• Election Programs The January 9 event is on Zoom; the January 11 meeting is in person. We will publicize in newspaper; Claire is in charge of Zoom tech for that meeting. She has a small list of qualified candidates: two for County supervisor; Connelly is unchallenged, Kimmelshue and Teeter have challengers. Need Facebook (Jane and Janet) and Instagram (Jane) to reach young people. Liz will reach out to govt. classes, high school teachers, and the Office of Public. Engagement at CSUC. Press releases: Janet will do one for CNR and the OLLI paper: “How is your ballot handled? Come and learn.” How to get a story in the ER? Ask Jenny Blevins to do a news story. Janet will use the flyer Satsie put together.
• Bylaws Committee Appointments Claire and Janet will review and revise the bylaws – very few changes need to be made.
• Satsie: Bylaws say we should have an executive committee to make decisions between board meetings to be ratified by board at the following meeting. President(s), 1st VP, are on committee.
Marcia and Janet will make a list of volunteer opportunities for the newsletter, including job definitions.
