League of Women Voters Board Meeting March 11, 2025 5:30 PM on ZOOM |

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m.
Minutes: from the February 11 meetingwere approved as corrected (minutes amended).
Proposed budget: Budget Committee Chair Linda MacMichael presented the proposed 2025-2026 budget. She pointed out as an area of concern that we are drawing on reserves to make the budget work, which is not a sustainable practice. The board discussed the expense of maintaining an office, possible alternatives, and the need for fundraising.
Change of Bank: Treasurer Sandi Shand explained some frustrations she and past treasurers has had with Tri-Counties Bank. The Board encouraged her to look into other banks as an alternative.
Know Your Rights Red Card: Lisa Cooperman has done some research on possibility of publicizing Know Your Rights cards, created by the Immigrant Legal Resource Center. Other leagues have been doing this. Board was favorable to putting a link on our website. Lisa will follow up with Satsie and Helen Gesick.
June LWVC Convention: Satsie advised the board that the LWVC Convention is online only, June 17 – 22. We can send 4 delegates at $75 registration and unlimited people can attend as nonvoting attendees for $30.
Planning for March 20 Judicial Position Meeting: Debra Barger will facilitate, Janet will take notes.
New Member Meetings: Janet pointed out that we have gained 8 new members in the past few months. The board discussed having an orientation for new members and interested persons.
Board Reports: Nicole Drummond reported meeting with Margaret Swick about the criminal justice committee to discuss a possible meeting for members to discuss civilian oversight of Butte County Sheriff’s Office.
Other Business: Debra Barger will work on Observer Corps meeting in near future.
