League of Women Voters of Butte County Board Meeting Minutes September 12, 2023  5:30 pm Zoom

Board Members present: Satsie Veith, Sandra Flake, Toni Reid, Claire Greene, Carol Holzgrafe

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 5:35 p.m.

Approve Meeting Minutes:  Reviewed and approved

Update on High School Education Week                 

Satsie updated the board that only one high school – Biggs – responded to the offer for civics materials. Satsie will deliver materials to that school soon.

Dîa del Campesino Voter Registration: This year DDC is in Hamilton City on Sunday, Oct. 1, from 12 to 5 p.m. Roxanne Ferry needs help with setup and take down and during the day. We will ask for volunteers at the Fall Coffee. Satsie will submit documentation for reimbursement of the registration fee of $50.

Realistic Goals:  Discussion postponed until the next meeting.

Planning for Fall Coffee: The Board discussed arrangements for the Fall Coffee to be held on Saturday, Sept. 23.

Other Business: Toni relayed a concern by an unnamed League member about LWVC’s opposition to a constitutional convention. There was a brief discussion of LWVC’s practice of taking positions on legislation and the implications for local leagues.

Meeting adjourned at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Next meeting will be Tuesday, October 10.
