In Loving Memory of Our Dear Friend and LWVNSBC 1st Vice President, Alison Wales

Our beloved friend and colleague, Alison Wales, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2025. She was currently LWVNSBC 1st Vice-President for Voter Services.

Congressman Salud Carbajal honored Alison Wales for her extraordinary life and service to women. She was recognized posthumously as one of the 2025 Central Coast Women of the Year—one of five incredible leaders making a lasting difference in our communities.
The Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors honored Alison on June 3, 2025 for her hard work and many contributions to our county community.

Alison spent more than 35 years devoted to the field of social services, touching countless lives with her compassion, strength, and steadfast commitment to those most in need. She began her work at Holly House in Lompoc and, in 1994, joined the Center as a volunteer advocate after completing her training. Just two years later, she became a full-time team member, leading community education initiatives with unmatched passion and dedication.

However, it was in direct service to survivors where Alison’s true calling shined. She was a pillar of support and a source of strength to those in crisis, founding the Center’s first survivor support group—a space that empowered women to reclaim their voices and begin healing. Her impact was transformative, and the legacy she leaves behind is both profound and enduring.

For those of us fortunate enough to know and work alongside Alison, our lives are forever changed. Her legacy lives on in the countless hearts she touched, the lives she helped to heal, and the hope she so generously shared. The seeds she planted will continue to grow for generations to come.

Please hold Alison close in your thoughts and prayers. She gave so much to each of us through her work with the North County Rape Crisis and Child Protection Center, SB County Women’s Commission, North County League of Women Voters, NAACP, Women’s March, AAUW, and numerous other organizations. Her grace, strength, and compassion were a guiding light—and her memory will continue to inspire us all.
