News

The LWV-PA 2020–2021 program was developed at the annual program planning meeting of January 16 and approved by the Board on February 12, 2020.

No new study was recommended.

New/renewed program process emphasis recommended:

  1. Expand the Observer Corps from School Boards to include City Council Meetings and major Commissions in our area with the goal of informing the Board and the Advocacy Committee of anything that needs attention for advocacy.
     a. Define goals and process.
     b. Recruit and train volunteers
  2. Use the “Know Your Town” concept to increase outreach to service-area cities.

Priorities for Education and Advocacy:

  1. Increase membership recruitment in all area cities with the goal of increasing diversity and representation of the populations of those cities. Develop Diversity/Equity/Inclusion (DEI) plans for all committees.
  2. Reach out to high school and community college students and other young adults with membership and voter information with the goal of engaging them in our efforts.
  3. Focus on building informed voters.
  4. Advocate for fair redistricting in all area cities and monitor implementation.
  5. Increase LWV members’ participation in Voter Service activities.
  6. Include  Voter Service goals in all committee plans.
