What a great way to spend a summer afternoon … chatting with interesting people while enjoying fabulous Fosselman’s sorbet and ice cream in yummy waffle cones, while listening to the Happiness Dixieland Band play toe-tapping music or trying to remember what the history professor said so we could win the prize for the Annual Voter’s Quiz. Approximately 130 LWV members and friends were delighted to begin the afternoon inside the charming, air-conditioned Maxwell House entry before going outside to the shaded patio of the Western Justice Center where delicious Fosselman’s ice cream and sorbet was served, along with fresh strawberries, blueberries, and peaches, and of course, chocolate sauce and whipped cream.

We are grateful to our many sponsors who make it possible to keep tickets prices low so that this event is truly a Friend-Raiser. The weather was warm, but the camaraderie that was present created an atmosphere that was even warmer than the weather, as folks chatted with “old friends” and meet new friends. This year our Silent Auction was held in the Maxwell House Dining Room with wonderful opportunities for interesting items including a $100 airline gift card, landscaping services, theater tickets, one of a kind handmade pottery, and beautifully crafted greeting cards, as well as treasured antiques, paintings, and photographs.

A Big Thanks to Our Silent Auction Donors: Carol Caley, Bob and Janice Carr, Paul Cartright, Marguerite Cooper, Robert Cornell, Kristin Dockery, Glendale Centre Theatre, Monica Hubbard, Sally Jameson, Bernie Kolk, Camille Levee, Carol Lightwood, Susan Long, Anita Mackey, Patty Murar, The Pasadena Playhouse, Pasadena Museum of History, Karen Roberson, Vicki Thompson, and Marilynne and Roger Wilander. We also thank everyone who bid on these great items. Donors and buyers are both greatly appreciated.

As the Ice Cream Social was ready to end, our enthusiastic Happiness Band members paraded through the dwindling crowd and out front for a special performance before returning to the back patio. Thanks to everyone who attended or was a sponsor. You made this event a huge success. Hope to see you next year!
