The Board of Directors met on September 9 via Zoom. Here is a summary:

• Many thanks to Marilynne Wilander for the idea and the effort to organize the Wonderful Wednesdays fundraiser during our too-quiet summer days. Also, a big thanks to Marcia Baldeschwieler for sending the numerous email blasts necessary to the success of the Wednesday dining events.
• Work on the Yearbook has been suspended until after the election.
• The Advocacy Committee is helping to update the website for local election issues.
• The Board extends much appreciation to Martha and Peter Zavala for their work on the website!
• We have a new intern coming to us from Duarte. She will be with us until after the election.
• Martha has had several speaking engagements concerning the Census and the vote. She is getting the word out!
• The LWVUS is partnering with us to try out a new platform, Peer to Peer, for communicating with certain contacts.
• Postcards will be written to low-propensity voters in L.A. County to encourage them to vote.
• A phone hotline will be available in the ten days leading up to Election Day. This will allow the League to continue to answer voters’ questions.
• Voter Services was the recipient of a large, anonymous donation. This is enabling a huge amount of activity!
• Our treasurer reported that all bills are paid and up to date. He is looking into getting a locked mailbox for the office to make it more secure. Incoming memberships have slowed.
• It was agreed that the LWV-PA co-sponsor an upcoming ACLU forum.
• The Board voted to officially change the name “League Day” to “Thursday with the League.”
• Mildred Dockery has volunteered to make embroidered face masks to be used as speaker gifts.
• Anita Mackey asked that the Know Your Town activities be noted. The Advocacy Committee would like volunteers for all the jurisdictions in our area. See the announcement in this issue of the Voter.
