VoterServices

The August 20 Voter Services Kickoff event was held at All Saints Church and started off with a delicious light supper featuring everybody’s favorite Diane Salad and fresh fruit. Seated in small groups, members shared their experience as a first time voter and how that has affected their voting careers.

Our dedicated Voter Services team leaders were introduced and discussed each component of voter services.
•    Jane Wallace, Voter Registration
•    Robbie Davis, Candidate Forums
•    Bonnie Skolnik, Civic Education/voter registration in schools
•    Sondra Hauge, Pro-and-Con presentations

The group broke up to discuss each component in greater detail, with members visiting two groups. Volunteers for were signed up for various activities and arrangements made to coordinate times and places.

We discussed how to reach out and involve as many schools and volunteers as possible in National Voter Registration Day on September 23, a big push that we hope will bring many of our members out to speak to classes and do tabling. We want to include pre- and post-event press coverage in local newspapers as well as social media.

The Voter Services Kickoff was a great way to get started on activities for this fall’s election—but not your only opportunity to sign up! We will be recruiting members who couldn’t attend in the coming weeks for assignments that can be done at home as well as in the community.
