League positions on Voters' Rights were originally adopted in 1971 and are reviewed annually.

The League of Women Voters of Santa Cruz County supports the concepts of adequate personnel, tools, and funding for the Elections Office in Santa Cruz County to do an efficient job, especially in adequate publicity and comprehensive training.
 

1. Adequate publicity through all media for:

a. Filing deadlines for candidates,
b. Nomination requirements,
c. Information regarding campaign fund expenditures,
d. Election dates other than legal notices;
e. Polling places,
f. Encouraging new volunteers to serve on election boards,
g. Voter information on absentee ballot acquisition, permanent registration locations, and dates of registration other than legal notices.

 

2. Comprehensive training of inspectors, judges, and new members of election boards to insure complete understanding of their legal responsibilities.

3. The League supports the enforcement of existing laws concerning campaign fund expenditures reporting for candidates and ballot measures.
